The Affordable Housing Crisis

To not admit that there is a housing crisis, is to turn a blind eye to the current state of affordable housing.

The year 2020 has amplified economic challenges, particularly for low-socioeconomic-status communities. We are in a position to bring about sustainable change through extensive and intentional efforts to address systemic barriers.

According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC), the US is short over 7 million homes for low-income renters. The gap in the affordable housing that is currently available and the amount of affordable housing our nation needs is staggering, and is positioned to continue growing. However, this issue predates the pandemic. Reports show that
only 1 in 4 eligible households were actually receiving federal housing assistance in 2019.

In response to the crisis, our Realty Haven tribe is partnering with the newly founded non-profit, Haven Home, as well as an Opportunity Fund that aligns with our mission to improve the landscape and community by focusing on new developments in Opportunity Zones throughout Columbia, SC.
